MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT

The transport process completed by two or more means of transport connecting with each other and transferring is collectively referred to as compound transport, which is called multimodal transport in China. The United Nations Convention on International Multimodal Transport of Goods defines international multimodal transport as: the cargo transport where the multimodal transport operator carries the goods from the place of takeover in one country to the designated place of delivery in another country, in accordance with the international multimodal transport contract, by at least two different modes of transport. However, the Maritime Code of China stipulates that the domestic multimodal transport shall be carried by sea.
